Tetuán which in Arabic means "eyes" or "sources". The city is sometimes known by the nickname "The White Dove", is located in Northern Morocco, and is located next to the Mediterranean.
Tetuán was founded in the 3rd century BC, and it was destroyed by the Romans in the 1st century. For 200 years the legions used it as a military detachment, and it was not repopulated until 1307, when one of the Meriní sultans decided to build a fortified city on the current site of Tetuan.
The city was destroyed in 1339, by the King of Castile. It was not again occupied until the 16th century by the Jewish from Spain.
The Spainards blocked their port to prevent piracy and entered a stage of decline that did not end until the time of Mulay Ismail.
Spain reconquered Tetuan in 1862, maintaining a certain influence in the city until 1913, and with the protectoarte, they occupied it again. For this reason it is often said that Tetuan is the most Spanish of the Moroccan cities.
