Information about Tinerghir
The name of Tinerghir, in Tamazight, means "the mountain", referring to its geographical location, between two mountain ranges. Tinerghir is a Kasbah, starting point or ending point of the famous Kasbahs Route. A walled adobe town, it owes its origin to an old military barracks, a key point between the Atlas and the desert.
Tinerghir is located at the mouth of the river Todra. Its waters have made this corner of the south, a green oasis, gardens and palm trees, which extends for 30 km, in clear contrast to the ocher red colors of the surrounding stone desert.
