TOUR 4X4 IN SOUTHERN MOROCCO : MERZOUGA DESERT 6 DAYS 5 NIGHTS

Itinerary of Tour 4X4 in Southern MOROCCO

DAY 1: MARRAKECH - AIT BEN HADDOU - OUARZAZATE - DADES

• Early in the morning we will pick you up from your accommodation or from the airport in Marrakech and leave the south of Morocco.
• We will reach the defile of Tizi n Tichka (2260 meters), the door of the desert, where we will then descend into a magnificent valley full of almond and fig trees.  
• We will arrive at the city of Ait Ben Haddou, declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO.  We will visit the Kasbahs in Ait Ben Haddou, and then continue on toward Ouarzazate where we will stop for lunch.
• Afterwards, we will drive through the Valley of the Roses and the Dades Valley, where you can admire the amazing Dades Gorges. Dinner and accommodation in the Kasbah de la Valley in Dades.

DAY 2: DADES - GARGANTAS DE TOUDRA - TNJDAD - TOUROUG - ERFOUD - MERZOUGA DUNES

• Breakfast in the Kasbah.
• Departure toward Merzouga.  We will make some stops along the way to rest and enjoy the most scenic places. We will visit the Palm grove in Tinerhir, and the Toudra Gorges.  
• Lunch on your own at one of the stops along the route.  
• We will continue to Erfoud, passing through the palm groves in Tinjdad and Touroug.  In Erfoud, we will visit the famous fossil quarry with fossils dating back to 360 years ago.  Finally, we will arrive in Merzouga, where we will take a trail that will bring us to the beginning of the desert.  
• There, our camels will be waiting to take us on a ride into the heart of the Sahara Desert (Erg Chebbi dunes).  In the desert, you can explore the dunes or just sit and wait for the sunset.  
• Dinner under the light of the stars (Itran)
• Accommodation in typical Berber tents.

DAY 3: MERZOUGA - RISSANI - TAZZARINE - ZAGORA

• This morning you will have the remarkable experience of watching the majestic sunrise over the sea of sand dunes.
• Breakfast in the desert and departure toward Zagora.  During the trip we will make small stops to drink some tea or take pictures.
• Lunch on your own at one of the stops along the route.
• We will pass through Rissani, a holy city, where the ruins of a famous city called Sijilmassa are, famous in ancient times for its dates, roses, and fruit trees.  It was also famous for its gold and ebony, as it dominated the caravans that had to pass through the city on the way south or to Egypt. After, we will pass through Tazzarine and arrive in Zagora, city known as the departure point for expeditions into the Sahara.  
• Dinner and accommodation in Zagora.

DAY 4: ZAGORA - OUARZAZATE - TAOURIRT KASBAH - MARRAKECH

• Breakfast in the hotel.
• Departure from Zagora through the Draa valley, the biggest valley in all of Morocco, toward Agdz and Ouarzazate.  
• Visit to the Taourirt kasbah, constructed in adobe and with large towers, and to the famous movie studios where parts of numerous movies were filmed, including: Cleopatra, Lawrence of Arabia, The Jewel of the Nile, and some scenes from Gladiator.
• Lunch on your own during the route.
• Arrival to Marrakech in the afternoon sometime around 18:00.  Our driver will drop you off in your hotel in Marrakech.

DAY 5: MARRAKECH

• Breakfast
• Guided visit of Marrakech
• We will begin our visit in Marrakech with an exterior visit of the Koutoubia Mosque, the twin tower of the Sevillian Giralda, and the Menara gardens.  After we will continue toward the Bahia Palace and the Saadian Tombs, the outside areas around the mosque of the Kasbah.  We will end our journey in theJmaa el Fna Plaza.

DAY 6:  MARRAKECH DEPARTURE

• Breakfast at the hotel
• 2 hours and a half prior to your flight departure, transfer to the airport
• END OF TRIP AND OUR SERVICES.
